|Typical Studebaker Front Fender Repair / 002|
Cutting out the rusted metal with a cut-off wheel. I generally make the repair in (2) Sections: A piece for above the body-line, and another piece for below. I do this mainly because you can use a narrower piece of metal (less waste), and it's easier to fabricate the upper curve and create the body-line of the upper section. The section around the ventilator- can best be repaired using metal for any of the flat areas.I use POR-15 and Fiberglass mat for the curved parts. This area isn't "structural"- so the repair can be mostly cosmetic.
