Studebaker Alternator bracket for use with your AC conversion
I suggest you "right-click" and save the images below, and use the zoom feature of an imaging program (such as Photoshop), to see it better- that's why I left these pretty much "full-size"... sorry for the large file-size. You may also click on them to see them full size (about 500-700kb ea)
Adapting the Sanden is a piece of cake (see AC webpage for bracket fabrication) .But, creating the bracket for the alternator is a biy more involved. My bracket runs from a bolt on the thermostat housing, over to the 2 bolts that hold the (right- passenger side) water manifold. Just be sure the top steel bracket is flat and parallel to the front of the engine. Then, just cut 2 pieces of 1"x 3/8"(thick) steel strap, drill a 1/4" hole in the ends for mounting to the water manifold bolts, and bend them until they touch the long flat bracket. Tack weld them in place while they are on the engine.
I then bend a "pivot" bracket in a "U" shape for the Delco mount. Bolt it to the Alternator and use vice grips to hold it in place while you line up the pulley and then tack-weld it. The alternator adjuster is another stock Studebaker generator adjustmant arm.... cut shorter and a hole drilled in the end. I weld a bolt to my bracket near the thermostat housing for the arm to pivot on.
